![]() I enlisted the help of Sir John, L'Oréal's brand ambassador and Beyoncé's makeup maestro who advised against seeking out a one-size-fits-all solution. “It would be nice if I could see your skin and not the makeup.” Until Rihanna blesses us with something more sheer, I have to reserve her signature product for special occasions.Ĭlearly, it was time to check in with the experts. “Are you wearing stage makeup now?” One friend asked, her face accusatory. From the moment I began the project, people suggested I try Fenty Beauty's game-changing foundation, but the full matte coverage was too much for my day to day. At times, finish proved a more significant hurdle than shade options. While the process was highly entertaining-the machine calls to mind a souped-up paint mixer-I found myself preferring the feel of the brand's ready-made Teint Idole, which offered fuller coverage and a robust 88 shades. Why should I have to set up the beauty equivalent of a chemistry lab to have something that matched?īack home, I went high-tech with Lancôme's Le Teint Particulier, a computerised match system that employed sensors to read the tone and texture of my skin in multiple places, then brewed up a custom blend with the texture of a tinted moisturiser. The idea of relying on a single colour, or at least a single formula, became something of an obsession. While I didn't mind the amount of effort it took to merely look normal, I didn't always have the extra 10 minutes needed to make sure my face was in order. This, plus a colour corrector-around my mouth area where there is a patch of unruly skin-and a concealer to tackle any spots. In the past, I've used one bottle for my slightly darker forehead, another for the lighter area around my cheeks. As someone who has hyperpigmentation and several different shades present on my face, I expected that I'd have to do some blending. Dior's Face and Body fared better the sheer, buildable coverage came closer to my liking, but I still needed to mix shades to get a perfect match. Once the purveyor of my first holy grail foundation, Teint Innocence, a barely there luminous blend that was discontinued back in 2011, I had high hopes for Chanel but found the undertones in their lineup too tangerine for my liking-the ironically named Les Beiges left me looking like an Oompa Loompa even after a lengthy consultation with a makeup artist. Bougie as I am, I wanted to see what Chanel, Dior, and their ilk had to offer. ![]() After years of tweaking the darkest shades at Sephora or mixing three different colours to match, I was used to putting in a little extra work. I grabbed what I could, hoping that I'd be able to make the best of things. I'd grown accustomed to YouTube videos in which content creators swatch every shade within a line, so I felt a degree of surprise upon realising the approach to publication samples was entirely different. Entering the Vogue beauty closet, I was overwhelmed by the number of foundations on the market, and the limited range of what actually was sent through by PR companies. Of course, I didn't expect it to take an entire year of my life. The hue may be right, but the undertone is wrong, the texture or finish might also need work, and since many brands still refuse to stock their full array of shades, even getting ahold of the right options would take time. As a woman of colour, I knew this wouldn't be an easy task. Post Fenty Beauty, many brands have expanded their ranges, but capturing the nuances of deeper skin remains an uphill battle. So began my search for a foundation that would match my skin tone and leave me with the healthy looking complexion of my dreams. ![]() The World Health Organization (opens in new tab) recommends a waist circumference at or below 31.5 inches for women and at or below 37 inches for men. ![]() Do it twice to be sure you have the right result.Make sure it is horizonal, snug, and flat, and not digging into your skin.Stand and place a tape measure around your middle, just above your hip bones. This is the jiggly fat you can pinch with your fingers. The other main kind of belly fat is called subcutaneous fat and is found under your skin. Visceral belly fat (the stuff deep in the abdomen that surrounds your internal organs, such as your liver) has been linked to an increased risk of high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. Your waist circumference is a good measure of your level of body fat in general and abdominal fat, in particular. So, while the correlation between BMI and body fat is strong - as Harvard School of Public Health noted, ‘For most people, BMI is a very good gauge of their level of body fat.’ (opens in new tab) – it may also be useful to measure your waist circumference to get an idea of the risk, if any, associated with your weight. It is also worth remembering that women tend to have more body fat than men. And there is strong evidence that healthy upper limits vary depending on ethnicity. Also, the measurement cannot assess where fat is in the body (fat stored around the belly presents a greater health risk than fat stored in the butt, for example). For example, a person with a lot of muscle may be classed as overweight and an athlete will have less body fat than a non-athlete who has the same BMI. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said the correlation between BMI and body fatness is fairly strong (opens in new tab). Generally speaking, if your BMI isīelow 18.5, you are in the underweight categoryġ8.5–24.9, you are in the healthy weight categoryĢ5–29.9, you are in the overweight categoryĪbove 30, you are in the obese category How useful is BMI? You just enter your height and weight to get the result. The National Institutes of Health has a BMI calculator (opens in new tab) that is easy to use. It simply suggests a healthy weight range for a certain height. It divides adults into broad categories and is quite reliable, but it gives only a rough estimate of body fat and does not tell you how much (if any) excess fat you are carrying. This is a method that uses your height and weight to find out if you are a healthy weight. How to measure body fat: What is body mass index (BMI)? BMI measurements are used by clinicians, and it has been argued that waist circumference ought to be obtained in medical practice as a matter of routine (opens in new tab). ![]() If you want to self-assess your levels of body fat, you can calculate your body mass index (BMI) and/or measure your waist circumference. However, as a study published in the journal Nutrients noted, given the simplicity and reliability of the calipers method, perhaps the time has come to say, ‘Come back skinfolds, all is forgiven.’ (opens in new tab) What else can I do? Some of the best smart scales also promise to give you an accurate body fat reading these days. Several high-tech techniques of measurement have also been developed to measure body composition, including (stay with us), hydrodensitometry, air displacement plethysmography, bioelectrical impedance analysis and spectroscopy, ultra-sound, and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). It’s a simple method but best used by a professional. Measurements are taken from several sites on the body (often eight) to ascertain the overall percentage of body fat. The best known method is to use skinfold calipers, which have been with us for decades. There are many ways to learn how much body fat you have, but not all are easily accessible and some are expensive. (Image credit: Shutterstock) How can I calculate my body fat percentage? There is no improvement to be found by calibration, but luckily, the default image is quite accurate. And as it turns out, there’s no benefit to tweaking the CU34G3S’s image settings. Coupled with the Game modes detailed below, changing Eco modes can be confusing. Standard is the best place to be and is also the default mode. There are also eight picture modes, called Eco, focused on specific tasks or game types. The seven sub-menus begin with Luminance, including brightness & contrast, plus gamma, dynamic contrast (SDR only) and the HDR modes. The menu is AOC’s familiar ribbon-style graphic that appears in the bottom center of the screen. It’s a bit old-school by today’s standards, but it gets the job done. The CU34G3S has four buttons to navigate the OSD rather than a joystick. Players who want good sound are better served by headphones plugged into the 3.5 mm audio jack. Distortion is minimal, but there isn’t much in the way of bass or lower midrange frequencies. The internal speakers boast five watts of power and do indeed play loudly. The control buttons are also visible here, a power key plus four controls for menu navigation. The inputs are closer to center and include two DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.0. The stand is a solid piece with -5/22 degrees tilt, 30 degrees swivel and a 130 mm height adjustment. It looks like solid metal but is actually a plastic shell over a cast metal core. The base is also silver in color with a matte finish. The AOC logo is displayed on the front and back in silver. There’s more red on the back where they offset the stand and the small grills on either side. Red trim is featured here and on the base’s cable hole. The color is quite accurate, and I found no need for calibration in either mode.Ī thin flush bezel surrounds the image with an eight-millimeter border around the top and sides and 22 mm across the bottom. And for purists, there’s an accurate sRGB mode hidden in the color temp options. Vivid color is assured by a wide gamut that covers nearly 87% of DCI-P3. Though it doesn’t have a dimming feature for HDR, it still has more image depth than any IPS panel can boast. With a high contrast VA panel, the CU34G3S brings plenty of dynamic range to the party. ![]() xchng, Ancient Watch, building, accessories png 1016x1308px 1.05MB Grand Central Terminal Manhattan Time clock.Fallout 3 Fallout: New Vegas Fallout 2 Fallout 4 Fallout Shelter, Computer, electronics, netbook png 759x834px 381.38KB.Computer Cases & Housings Computer System Cooling Parts Water cooling Heat sink Corsair Components, Radiator, electronics, computer png 1200x745px 228.99KB.Hearts of Iron IV Europa Universalis IV Video game Paradox Interactive, hoi, game, text png 900x346px 148.54KB.gray Sony DualShock 4, Twisted Metal: Black Star Wars Battlefront PlayStation 4 PlayStation 3 Xbox 360, Playstation, PS4 Controller Silver, video Game, game Controllers png 1280x1280px 1.26MB.The Sims 4 The Sims 3: Seasons The Sims Online Christmas, day spa, holidays, decor png 1100x800px 987.02KB.The Sims 2 The Sims 3 Stuff packs The Sims 4: Get to Work The Sims 4: Get Together, kids room, video Game, expansion Pack png 4000x2936px 5.62MB.Mount & Blade: Warband Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord PlayStation 4 Video game, Blade, video Game, playStation 4 png 512x512px 354.92KB.SimCity 4: Rush Hour Video game Residential area PC game, white house, image File Formats, building png 876x703px 537.18KB.Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts SimCity 4 Juilliard School Jazz at Lincoln Center Simtropolis, news center, building, film png 1314x946px 884.04KB. ![]() SimCity 4 SimCity Societies SimCity BuildIt Commerzbank Tower, CHRYSLER BUILDING, building, apartment png 300x1115px 385.67KB.SimCity 4: Rush Hour The Sims Cities XL Maxis, Electronic Arts, game, plan png 1000x849px 1.22MB.SimCity 4: Rush Hour The Sims 2 The Sims 4, army, video Game, expansion Pack png 788圆00px 603.08KB.SimCity 4: Rush Hour Elementary school Expansion pack, video Game, high School png 502圆16px 305.27KB.SimCity 4: Rush Hour Film studio Television studio Paramount s, television, building png 1082x706px 630.27KB.Fallout 4 Old World Blues Fallout 3 Fallout: New Vegas, ghoul, game, electronics png 974x731px 519.79KB.SimCity 4 Hagia Sophia The Sims 3 The Sims 2, building, vehicle png 876x763px 572.59KB.Dying Light: The Following PlayStation 4 Video game Xbox One, Watch Far Logo, text, logo png 12000圆000px 8.95MB.The Sims 4 The Sims 3 The Sims 2 Electronic Arts, Banner GEOMETRIC, blue, text png 1280x487px 50.57KB.SimCity 4: Rush Hour Rockefeller Center SimCity BuildIt 30 Rockefeller Plaza Building, building, building, condominium png 300x875px 354.56KB.The Sims 4 The Sims 3: Seasons MySims Mod The Sims, Bowling Game Night, team, public Relations png 640圆34px 405.58KB.SimCity 4 Seoul World Cup Stadium Nagoya Dome, stadium, expansion Pack, structure png 758圆00px 598.47KB.SimCity 4: Rush Hour SimCity BuildIt Building Cities: Skylines, Store building, condominium, apartment png 485x856px 542.23KB.SimCity 4 SimCity Societies SimCity BuildIt Commerzbank Tower, building, apartment png 300x1115px 385.67KB.man holding briefcase, Grand Theft Auto V GTA 5 Online: Gunrunning Smuggler's Run Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas PlayStation 4, tshirt, video Game png 1224x1600px 1.21MB.Non-commercial use, DMCA Contact Us Relevant png images ![]() ![]() I want to mention that Crucial has increased their warranty from 3 years to 5 years for their MX500 SSDs to compete with the Samsung 860 Evo.
